The Applied Signal Processing Laboratory (LASP)—home to INCT Signals (National Institute of Science and Technology in Signal Processing, Communications, Sensing, and Surveillance)—hosted a visit by Professors Mônica Oria and Fabiane Gubert. They are lead researchers for INCT Screens, an institute affiliated with the Nursing department at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC).
The primary objective of the visit was to explore opportunities for scientific and technological cooperation between the two National Institutes of Science and Technology. The focus was on developing and applying advanced techniques—such as Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, signal processing, and multimodal data analysis—to address strategic challenges within INCT Screens' fields of activity.
During the meeting, the participants discussed potential joint research avenues involving the use of AI to support clinical decision-making, intelligent health data analysis, and the development of monitoring and sensing systems. They also discussed creating innovative solutions aimed at promoting health and improving the population's quality of life. The interaction highlighted the immense potential of interdisciplinary approaches that integrate established expertise in engineering, data science, and health sciences.
This collaboration between INCT Signals and INCT Screens marks a significant step toward strengthening high-impact research networks, expanding the scope for scientific and technological innovation at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Signal Processing, and Digital Health.
